Enoco Mine Site, Bruceville, Indiana (Wetlands)
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources designed this project to treat highly acidic underground water that was leaching into a nearby stream. The project scope consisted of leveling 75 acres of an existing hay field and the construction of thousands of feet of ephemeral streams along with two treatment basins. These treatment basins were constructed and then filled with a natural substrate of mulch, wood chips, lime, and compost. The outfall of the basins will discharge the treated water into a series of sinuous ephemeral streams with riffle pools created with natural stone.
